1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement between you and the operator of SelfSettle (“we”, “us”). They apply to everyone who uses the service: merchants, merchant team members, anyone calling our API, and customers paying through a checkout page.

By creating an account, calling our API, or completing a payment on a checkout page, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

2. Definitions

In these terms, the following words mean:

• Service — the SelfSettle platform: merchant dashboard, API, hosted checkout pages, on-chain payment verification, and webhooks.
• Merchant — a business or individual with a SelfSettle account that accepts payments through the service.
• Customer — a person paying a merchant through a checkout page.
• Checkout Page — the hosted page where a customer pays a specific payment from their own wallet.
• Payment — a single payment request created by a merchant, with an expected asset, amount, and destination wallet.
• Wallet — a blockchain address registered by a merchant to receive customer funds.
• API Key — a secret credential that lets a merchant's systems call our API with defined permissions.
• Webhook — an automated signed HTTP notification we send to a merchant's endpoint when payment events happen.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract to use the service.

You may not use the service if you are subject to sanctions or located in a sanctioned jurisdiction, or if doing so would violate any law that applies to you. It is the merchant's responsibility to make sure they have the legal right to accept payments for their goods or services in every place they operate.

4. What the Service does

SelfSettle is a non-custodial payment verification service for merchants. It provides hosted checkout pages, monitors public blockchains for matching transfers, and notifies merchants with cryptographically signed webhooks.

We currently support the following networks and assets:

• Ethereum — USDT and USDC
• Polygon — USDT and USDC
• BNB Smart Chain — USDT and USDC
• Solana — USDT and USDC
• Tron — USDT

The list of supported networks and assets may change over time; we will keep the checkout page and documentation up to date.

5. Non-custodial nature

This is the most important part. Funds move directly from the customer's wallet to the merchant's wallet. We never take custody of funds, not even for a moment.

• We never hold, pool, forward, or convert your funds.
• We will never ask you for seed phrases or private keys — anyone who does is not us.
• We are not a bank, a licensed payment institution, a money transmitter, or a cryptocurrency exchange.
• We provide no fiat currency services of any kind.
• Merchants remain the sole controllers of their wallets at all times. If you lose access to your wallet, we cannot recover it for you.

6. Merchant accounts and API keys

To register, you provide a merchant name, an email address, and a password. You must keep your registration information accurate and your credentials safe. One account per merchant, please. Note that the operator may disable new registrations at any time.

API keys inherit the permissions (scopes) and network (testnet or mainnet) you assign at creation, so scope them narrowly and keep them secret. The full key is shown only once — store it securely. You are responsible for everything done with your keys. If a key may be compromised, revoke it immediately in the dashboard and issue a new one.

7. Wallets

You may only register wallet addresses that you control. Double-check every address before going live: because payments go directly on-chain from customer to merchant, a wrong address means funds go to the wrong place, and no one — not us, not the network — can reverse that.

You are responsible for the correctness of every address you register and for keeping control of the corresponding private keys.

8. Payments, verification and statuses

When a customer submits a transaction hash on the checkout page, that is only a hint — it helps us find the transfer faster. The final payment status is always set after our systems re-check the blockchain.

A payment can end up in one of these statuses:

• Pending — waiting for the customer's transfer.
• Detected / confirming — a matching transfer was spotted on-chain and is being verified.
• Paid — the expected amount arrived in time. All good.
• Underpaid / overpaid — the amount received differs from what was expected.
• Expired — the payment window closed without a matching transfer.
• Paid after expiration — funds arrived, but after the window closed.
• Failed — the payment cannot be completed.

Every payment has an expiration window. Sorting out amount mismatches with your customers — including manual refunds for underpaid, overpaid, or late payments — is the merchant's responsibility.

9. Order data and metadata

When creating a payment via the API, you can attach two kinds of extra data. They are treated very differently, so do not mix them up:

• Order (JSON, up to 8 KB) — displayed publicly on the checkout page so the customer can see what they are paying for. Never put secrets, passwords, tokens, or personal data in it.
• Metadata — stays private to the merchant and is never shown on the checkout page.

10. Webhooks

We send event notifications to your endpoint as a best-effort delivery and keep a delivery log so you can see what was sent. Webhooks can be delayed, retried, or, in rare cases, lost in transit.

Always verify the HMAC-SHA256 signature of every webhook before trusting it, and keep your endpoint secure. Never treat an unverified request as proof of payment — when in doubt, check the payment status via the API.

11. Withdrawal requests

Withdrawal requests are a tracking and coordination feature only. They are created by the merchant's own systems and processed manually by the merchant — for example, marked as handled in the dashboard.

We do not execute withdrawals, move funds, or take custody of anything in this flow. It exists so merchants can keep track of payout work, nothing more.

12. Fees

There are no self-serve plans. Fees are agreed individually — write to sales@selfsettle.money and we will work something out together. No hidden charges, ever: what we agree is what you pay.

We may change fees in the future, but only with prior notice.

13. Prohibited use

You may not use the service to:

• Serve sanctioned persons or regions, or sell illegal goods or services of any kind.
• Launder money, commit fraud, or manipulate markets.
• Attack, overload, or disrupt the service — including probing it for vulnerabilities outside normal use.
• Scrape the service or reverse-engineer our software beyond using the documented public API as intended.

Violating this section may lead to immediate suspension as described below, and we may report illegal activity to the competent authorities where required by law.

14. Blockchain risks and availability

Blockchains come with inherent risks that neither you nor we can remove. By using the service, you accept them:

• Transactions are irreversible once confirmed.
• Networks can congest, fork, or reorganize; confirmation times vary.
• Stablecoins can lose their peg.
• Smart contracts and network software can fail or be exploited.

The service is provided “as is”, without an uptime SLA unless separately agreed in writing. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice, and we will do our best to keep disruptions minimal.

15. Intellectual property and your customers

The service and its software belong to the operator of SelfSettle. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership rights to you.

By uploading a logo or setting a brand color, you grant us a limited license to display them on your checkout pages — that is all. Everything else in your branding stays yours.

The merchant is the seller of record in every sale made through the service. That means you — not us — handle refunds (crypto refunds are manual, on-chain transfers back to the customer), equivalent of chargebacks, and compliance with the consumer laws that apply to your business.

16. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

We provide the service with care, but without warranties of any kind — express or implied — to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or the minimum amount permitted by law, if that is higher). We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, or losses happening on-chain — such as wrong addresses, lost keys, network failures, or depegged assets.

17. Suspension, termination and changes

We may suspend or restrict accounts that violate these terms or threaten the security of the service, with notice where practical. You may stop using the service at any time — no cancellation flow, just stop. Account data can be deleted on request, subject to any legal duties that require us to keep certain records.

If we make material changes to these terms, we will announce them by email or in the product before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

18. Governing law and contact

Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be resolved under the law of the jurisdiction where the operator of SelfSettle is established. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first — write to sales@selfsettle.money and we will try to resolve it in good faith before anyone involves lawyers.
